*Angavastram Sadhguru Foundation

Soft and elegant Adiyogi Angavastram is a black cotton scarf dedicated to Shiva, a source of yoga or Adiyogi. Its frame is adorned by the words “Aum Adi Yogishwaraya Namah” written in calligraphic gold letters. Weared during Sadhana and Adiyogi Pradakshina, it reminds of being surrounded by the grace of Adiyogi.
The meaning of Adiyoga – the first yogi.
When we say “Siva”, we mean a certain yogi, Adiyogi, or first yogi, and Adi Guru, the first Guru, which is the basis of what we know today as a yoga science. Yoga doesn't mean standing on your head and holding your breath. Yoga is a science and technology to learn the essential nature of how life arises and how it can be brought to its ultimate potential. This first transmission of yogic teachings took place on the shore of Kanti Sarovar, a glacial lake a few miles behind Kedarnath in the Himalayas, where Adiyogi began systematically presenting this internal technology to his first seven students, known today as Sapta Rishi.
